Livestock Guardian Dogs
If it wasn't for guardian dogs we wouldn't have a sheep left. If you're going to handle any numbers of sheep or goats you have to have Livestock Guardian Dogs - and good ones.
Livestock Guardian Dogs:
We've had a lot of livestock guardian dogs through the years - Great Pyrenees, Anatolian Shepherds, Maremas, Akbash and various crosses of these breeds. I'm sure there's good and bad in all of them but some breeds have worked way better for us than others. At the head of the list would be the Komondor and at the bottom would be the Great Pyrenees. They're just bad to roam, they're not very aggressive and they don't take the heat and humidity of our Oklahoma Summers at all.
